I have Ugly Tulips

I have ugly tulips and I couldn't find in your many articles the answer to the following: I live in NS and my tulips were nipped by frost this spring. Now they are ugly. Can they be dug up now (June 3) and laid in a sunny area until the follage that didn't get hit, turns brown? Do I cut off the sad blooms?
With an advance thank you,
Karen

Doug says,

Unfortunately tulip bulbs only give us one bloom a year. If that bloom is damaged in some way, well, we're the losers. The important thing to understand is that you MUST grow out the foliage on any bulb without disturbing it if you want it to produce a flower the next season.

Do you cut off the sad blooms? Absolutely as they're obviously toast. :-(

Can you dig them up ? Surely but that will stop the top growth from growing (root damage!) and will simply put the bulb into dormancy without replenishing the flower bud or itself for winter survival.

Can you dig them up and transplant them. Yes, if you do it carefully but do understand your death losses will be quite high.

Grow those tops/leaves folks and the bottoms and flowers will take care of themselves.
