trimming indoor tulips for more blooms

I have a pot of tulips that i bought from the store. the blooms have withered, and ive been told to trim them to the bulb and they will grow more blooms. Is this true and if so, how do i trim them properly?

Doug says that a tulip blooms once a year. So trimming them back will not produce more blooms this year. Whoever told you that doesn't know what they're talking about.

But if you read the articles on this page you can treat them as regular bulbs and get them to bloom again next year.
