solution to bulbs not blooming

by Susan Farmer

My tulip bulbs did not bloom. I had lots of huge leaves, but no flower. I read the article about the possible causes. I believe that my did not bloom because of overwatering or overfeeding. My question is: Can I leave them in the ground and hope that they decide to bloom next year or are they dead and should be pulled from the ground? Susan in Boston

Doug says that if you know what caused them not to bloom - you have to fix this if you want to see them bloom. If they produced green leaves, they aren't dead though.

Can you leave them in the ground? Sure. Will they bloom? Maybe sporadically but if you don't give them the conditions they want, then they will never give you that glorious display again.

But hope springs eternal in the garden flower bulb world. :-)
