Planting Bulbs

by Doug
(in his garden)

A quick note about planting bulbs. I sometimes get questions about how deep to plant bulbs. Sometimes when trying out a new species, I'll ask myself the same question.

For the most part though - I don't worry or even bother to look it up.

I go with the simple rule of thumb that you plant a bulb twice as deep as it is tall. So if the measurement of the bulb is 1-inch from the top to the bottom of the bulb, the top of the bulb will be planted so it is 2-inches below the surface of the garden.

But having said that - this isn't rocket science so don't worry if it's slightly higher or slightly lower. Close counts when it comes to planting bulbs.
