Fritillaria Crown Imperial

Fritillaria Crown Imperial

I particularly enjoy this spring bulb. It is situated in the centre of my rose garden. The strong skunk order it produces seems to keep not only 4 legged creatures away but also 2 legged little ones tend to avoid picking it.

A Favorite in my garden
by: Christa, Kingston

Hi Larry,
This is one plant I've had for year (orange and yellow) - brought the "original" bulb -orange - back from Germany about 32 years ago in my luggage. I wonder what Customs thought, when handling my baggage??? On top of it, it was illegal, but then, I guess, I did NOT inform myself about legality and the bulbs were planted. They provided years of great beauty until last year, when none of them came back. Maybe the lack of snow cover, maybe finally age took over.
But to my surprise, this spring there are several new plants, that have taken over, where the older ones were and maybe next year will grace my garden with Beauties just like yours.
Yours is a beutiful picture. I have enjoyed ALL of yours, but have not been able to comment on the others. Sorry. Keep up sending your pictures, they are "Chicken soup" for my soul!!

scent?
by: Anonymous

I just bought one bulb here in MA but I am concerned with the odor the flower might bring. Is the odor so strong that I should plant it away from my pergola - where i have guest come and visit for dinner?
