moving hyacinths in the spring after blooming
Thank you,
Connie
Doug says, then take as much of the roots as possible and when you replant them, plant at exactly the same depth as they were in the old garden. Do not cut any leaves off - they'll need that to replenish the bulbs. Do cut off any flower stalks. Water them well when you replant them but then pretty much ignore them. Again, don't cut those leaves off until they're well and truly yellowed in the new planting area.
Or consider leaving the bulbs, eliminating the stress in your life and simply buying fresh new bulbs in new colors for next fall. At the price of bulbs, you're not saving a ton of money by doing this work. If the bulb is a family heirloom, then move it! Otherwise, consider being kind to yourself and let it go. (hint: this gives you a real reason to go garden shopping next fall) :-)
