Indoor Tulip Growing and Storing

My tulip that was a gift already potted, has turned brown and "died" How can i keep the bulb until spring?

Doug says - keep it cool and dry. But if you want it to bloom again, you're going to have to give it 14-16 weeks of cold temperatures (mid 30's to low 40's F. ) otherwise it will not bloom.
