i have daffodils i want to plant in desert landscaping. will they survive?

its mid april in arizona and i want to plant my spring daffodils i have them planted in a container right now. my yard is rock/dirt and its very dry. can i plant them in the ground and will the survive? when planting them, do i follow the same steps i would if planting them in a garden? also, they dont have flowers on them, but they still have the stems. do i plant them with the stems on or trim the stems off down to the bulb??

Doug says it's going to be too hot in the desert in Arizona to grow tulips outdoors. Not enough cold winter temperature.
