I acquired bulbs out of season

It is almost the middle of June in Nebraska (we have gotten 12+" of rain since June 1st) & I just acquired some tulip bulbs. I understand that they should be planted in the fall, but how/where do I store them between then & now? If I plant them now, will they come up next spring?
Doug says - store cool and dry till fall. Do not freeze in freezer. ;-)
Planting now - I don't know how those bulbs have been grown or stored. If just dug out of the ground - then I'd likely store them. If last fall's bulbs, I'd get them in the ground as they are likely already dead or struggling.
Will them come up next spring? Your guess is as good as mine. :-)
