hyacinth leaf cuttings

I have heard that it is possible to grow a hyacinth bulblet from a leaf cutting. Any special advice you can give?
Doug says there are two ways you can do this (I understand) The first is to take a leaf cutting as low on the leaf as you can, insert it into a propagation medium such as perlite or florists foam (keep it warm and damp) and you "should" have a small bulblet form on the base of the leaf fairly quickly. The trick (at least the way I understand it ) is to get as close to the base of the leaf as possible when the leaf is young. In other words, taking a tip cutting isn't as successful but I've never tried or experimented with this so can't really say. It might be interesting to take some tip cuttings this spring and see what happens (take some when young and some when more mature)
The other way is to physically score the bulb into different sections (cut it like a pie but not all the way through) and each section will produce a leaf shoot if grown in a small pot or potting medium. Divide the leaf shoots from each other and you'll have baby bulbs.
If you do try this, let me know how it goes - whether the leaf cutting, tip cutting or ?? works for you.
