how to keep dahlia plant upright ?

by Ruchita

Hi there,

I have tried using stalks and a few other things to keep dahlia upright but without success. I was wondering if can share what you use for the same.

Thanks
Ruchita

Doug says that tall dahlia stalks get staked with bamboo poles or other sturdy stakes. The stakes are driven deeply into the ground to support the weight of the bigger dahlia plants. Tie the stalk to the stake as it grows up using something soft that won't cut through the stem (old pantyhose works great)

maybe a bucket might help

depends on size, width and height , on my peony I used a 5 gal. bucket with the bottom cut off so I could corral the bush and hold it upright at the same time, the top curves over so it doesnt cut into the plant either. hope this might help.
