how many bulbs to plant

Doug says that daffodil bulbs are generally planted 8 inches or so apart. Go with that and plant as big a clump as you like.
Replant? I guess if the bulb leaves were brown/withering, you can store till fall and expect blooms next year. If the leaves were still green when you cut them off, you can still store them cool and dry but your blooms will be reduced next year.
If the bulbs are dormant (yellow leaves) the you can replant. If not, then I'd be tempted to leave them cool and dry for the summer and replant in the fall.
