Good bulbs for gifts/container in October

I know someone already asked you this question regarding a July wedding, but I'm getting married in October and also considering bulbs as favors. Lots of bulbs should be dormant then. But I'll have guests from all over the country - Florida, Texas, Jersey, Pennsylvania - but mostly from Los Angeles. So it will have to be something that does well indoors.

I know that paperwhites grow well in indoor containers. But I was hoping for something a little more colorful, that won't require the recipients to do a lot of work. A great bonus would be something that might actually re-grow, even in a container.

Any ideas?

Doug says that the only bulb that will fill all your requirements is an Amaryllis. It will bloom this year indoors and can, with a little care, bloom for years. You have a choice of many colors and sizes (so you may be able to match your wedding colors) :-)
