Getting a Bulb to Rebloom

by Penny Getts
(Reno, Nevada)

The Narcissus bloomed for Christmas and is done. It's in a plastic pot. There's still foliage. I know to leave the foliage. Should I continue to water? What should I do in several months? Remove the foliage, take the bulbs out of the soil, let them dry? Store them in a paper bag or sand? In the dark? Warm or cool? Plant in August? I live in Northern Nevada, Zone 1-2. Thank you.

Doug says - let's get the zone stuff out of the way first - you're using Sunset zones rather than USDA zones. I confess I don't use those zones as they tend to be focused on Southern areas. In any case, no problem - here are the instruction for getting any of the hardier bulbs to rebloom and you get to decide whether you have enough real winter to keep them cold enough - both warm and cold winter techniques are here.
