Flower Garden Bulbs Blog

This is my flower garden bulbs blog and  the pages where I post all the latest articles and pictures from my bulb gardens and travels.  I like this class of plants and could happily grow more.  With a little work, I could even have builbs growing in my gardens and house year round (well, almost year round given I live in Canada).   But early spring to late fall is a no-brainer.

And here's how to grow this easiest of plants.

All the new articles fit to print.

Mar 2, 2010, Agapanthus

Agapanthus or African Lily is a South African member of the lily family and while it can become quite weedy in the South, in more northerly gardens, it is a choice bulb. Feb 8, 2010, Allium

Allium or ornamental onions are fantastic spring blooming bulbs that more and more savvy gardeners are tucking into their gardens. What’s not to like about these cheerful bloomers? They are bone hardy if grown in well drained soil (sorry you clay garden folks – this is not your plant) and given a shovel of compost in the spring. They bloom regularly and if you control the early slugs, you are not likely to see any problems with this plant. And you have over 500 varieties to choose from – what could be better?
