The Monkshood (unknown variety) grows 5' to 6' tall. It's beautiful purple/blue flowers bloom mid July (zone 4) thru mid August. Mixed within several areas of the garden it stands like sentinels to ward off garden pest whether it be deer, rabbits, aphids or slugs.

Cala in the rain

Cala in the rain

For three years my calla lilies would only grow foliage - never flower. I was about to compost them when I decided to plant some directly in the garden under a variety of conditions, some in pots. All flowered with abundance this year - maybe it was the wet cool July we had.

allium

This allium came from my grandmother's flowerbed when I was just a child. My mother never liked alliums, so I had to guard it closely so it didn't get "accidentally" pulled out. I moved only one bulb to our new house and this year that one bulb had two blooms coming from it. Hopefully in the next couple years it will finally be allowed to spread!

Mysterious Bulb Plant

Mysterious Bulb Plant

My home has bulbs from the previous owner that come up every year. They have the most colorful flower that blooms, sadly they do not last long because they receive direct full sun during the day. I do not know what variety of bulb they are. Anyone?
