Doug says that at the risk of sounding ornery - you screwed up somehow. You didn't give the plant what it wanted (full spring sunlight etc) or you mistreated the growing conditions (cut them back too soon or watered too much or any number of things).
So without knowing what you did do - I can't tell you what to do.
Let me suggest you read the growing instructions and try again with new bulbs.
And yeah, I know it's disappointing (been there, killed that) but when a plant doesn't do something expected, its often the gardener's fault.
