Are these hyacinth seed pods?

by Ginger

My hyacinths (regular ones, not grape hyacinths) got these bulbous things in place of the flowers when the flowers faded and fell off. Do hyacinths reproduce this way? If so, what do I do to get new plants out of these? If not, what are they?

Doug says sounds like a seed pod to me. And yes, Hyacinths reproduce by seed.

How to get new plants? Treat them in one of two ways as described right here under the perennial section.

Kathy- you're right - it wasn't a great answer so here's the better one. Yes, it sounds like a seed pod and here's how you propagate it. Scroll down this page to the perennial seed area and pick your method.

Boy Doug, your answer to the post someone made asking about what to do with the seed pods produced from a Hyacinth after the blooms are spent was very uninformative. I thought you to be an expert. They had a very good question which I'm sure many are looking for the answer such as myself. Basicaly you said nothing.
